For its first event in 2024 the Society has arranged an illustrated talk about Cwrt Bryn-y-Beirdd, one of the oldest houses in the Llandeilo area. The speaker will be the historian Eurig Davies, until recently Chairman of the Carmarthenshire Antiquarian Society.
Cwrt Bryn-y-Beirdd became a farmhouse and has been altered, but in medieval times it was a substantial courtyard house. While some medieval features can still be seen from a nearby footpath, many more are concealed and they will be revealed in the talk along with this intriguing house’s history including the date when it is now thought to have been built.
The talk will be on Tuesday 6 February at 7.30 pm at the Capel Newydd Vestry Hall in Crescent Road, Llandeilo.
There will be a £3 admission charge for non-members of the Civic Society.
